Passwords

What happens if I forget?

Forgetting your encryption password has serious implications in a zero-knowledge system. Here's what you need to know.

The Hard Truth

If you forget your encryption password, your data is permanently lost. We do not store your passwords and cannot recover them. This is by design for maximum security.

Prevention Strategies

Use a password manager, write passwords down and store them securely, or use a passphrase system that creates memorable but strong passwords.

Account vs Memo Passwords

Note that your account password (or OAuth login) is separate from memo encryption passwords. Losing account access can be recovered, but memo passwords cannot.
