Dead Man's Switch Usage Guide

Dead Man's Switch automatically delivers messages to designated recipients if you don't check in within a set period. Use it for emergency preparedness or secure information delivery.

Step 1: Access DMS

Select 'Dead Man's Switch' from the 'Products' menu or enter /dms. Login is required.

Step 2: Create a Switch

Click 'New Switch'. Enter a name and description. Set the check-in interval (daily/weekly/monthly) and grace period—the time between notification and actual trigger.

Step 3: Designate Recipients

Add recipients who will receive messages. Enter name and email. Multiple recipients can be designated, each with different messages.

Step 4: Compose Messages

Write messages to be delivered when triggered. Include passwords, account info, wills, emergency contacts. Messages are stored encrypted and delivered only when triggered.

Step 5: Regular Check-ins

Click the check-in button at your set interval to confirm activity. Missing a check-in triggers an email notification. Failing to check in within the grace period triggers the switch.

Step 6: Pause and Manage

Pause switches during travel or extended absence. While paused, no check-in is needed. When resumed, the check-in cycle resets. Delete switches you no longer need.

DMS Tips

  • -Set check-in intervals you can realistically manage.
  • -Set generous grace periods to prevent accidental triggers.
  • -Always pause before traveling.
  • -Inform recipients about the system in advance to reduce confusion when triggered.
